We Could Match with Ilsa!

As you guys are well aware, I made a post not too long ago of some of the products you could find from the Mission Impossible movie. Today I am bringing you a small update/review. We know Ilsa’s infamous black strappy heels she wears in the opera scene.

I have been searching high and low for a similar pair of shoes that can be considered as a “dupe”. Let us be truthful here, it is not easy spending $899 (not including tax) on a pair of Jimmy Choo’s (unless you are in circumstances that allow you to splurge easily). In my honesty, I had a hard time wrapping my mind in allowing my credit card to cry for a pair of Jimmy Choo heels. I know myself, and it is difficult to keep a pair of luxury brand shoes in mint condition. That is why I pushed myself to try to come across something similar, and I have. Let me present to you, Ted Baker’s “Ninof Suede Wrap Around Gladiator Sandals“!

They are not 100% exactly the same, but they are very close! The positive side of things is that it is $230 (USD) for these cute heels! I know it is still in the $$$ range of items, but at least you are saving around $600 in the long run. I already ordered a pair for myself and it came in the mail this week. I was nervous at first because I was not sure how comfortable these heels would be. Just looking at the image and the pin-thin heels already makes you sweat a little. However, that is not the case. I slipped these heels on my feet and they felt very comfortable. There is a bit of a padding at the sole of the feet which makes them tolerable. I already know that when I wear these heels for more than two hours my feet will want them off. In this case, it will not matter as much because I plan to use them for dates and special occasions when it matches my outfits. I love the bottom of these heels! I wrote a post back in July mentioning Cinderella’s shoes and these shoes mentions Cinderella!

"Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life"

“Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life”

Ted Baker, you really know how to charm the girls! Also, in terms of the size you should order (in case you do not have a Ted Baker store nearby, or if they do not have any at a Ted Baker near you) I would go a size up. My feet are pretty small (5.5 US) I usually always size up to either a 6 or 6.5 depending on the shoe brand. However, when I buy heels, flats, and boots, I usually go with a size 7 (US), because size 6 and 6.5 always fits just right. The concept of “always fits just right” is a good and bad thing. The good is that the shoe fits you perfectly, and the bad is that you have no wiggle room and it is still constricting your foot. Since the choice of 6.5 (US) did not exist, I went a whole size up and going for the 7 (US). I do note that everyone’s foot size is different so my shoe size concept does not match everyone’s profile 100%. Also, every shoe brand is different and the shoe sizing can go either way. The size 7 (US) turned out to be PERFECT! I was able to walk in a normal fashion and the shoe was not constricting, nor was it too loose! I was able to get my foot in and out easily and the shoe does not have a lot of wiggle room despite being a “whole” size bigger than the 6 (US). It is the perfect amount of space all around. Overall, it was a great purchase and the shoe is hands down super adorable! If you are looking to complete your Ilsa outfit, then here is your chance now! Let me know in the comments if you got a pair for yourself or not! Have a lovely day!

Ctrl + F + Friendship

When was the last time you scrolled through your contacts? When was the last time you contacted that one friend you once were super close with? That was me at the beginning of this month.

It takes a few seconds to message a friend. It does not take much effort to reach out and say a simple greeting. Friendship comes in all shapes and forms. It is up to us to keep those friends in our lives. Distance is just a number to me. I have friends from all over, and it just takes a little time and effort to send them a little greeting. I still have a few friends I need to contact and say hello to, but my first step is initiating the step. It is not easy, because I have many of those lazy days where I tell myself, “Tomorrow, tomorrow will be the day I send them a message!” It is always the first step to push myself. I am not perfect in keeping up with my contacts. But hey, I am human and I try my best. I still need to send my pen pal a letter back and a small package. I will get it done! Hopefully before August ends. The one thing I read recently on a friend’s Facebook post is that a friend is always a friend no matter what. A friend might not always stay in contact because they are busy, but you can always give them a call and they will answer. A friend always has your back, rain or shine.

The most important thing to remember is that friends never leave your side. We just need to put in a small effort here and there to stay in contact.

I made this post because I wanted readers to think, “When was the last time I contact (insert your friend’s name here).” It is never too late to make contact! If I can contact my old buddies, so can you! I just had a lot on my mind. There are some regrets that I did not contact a friend earlier, until today. We lost touch for two years and a lot has happened in that time frame. I learned a lot and I wish I was there for her during the rough patches she had. That is why I encourage you to talk to friends you have not talked to in a long time. Sometimes they need a hand, and the contact you make to see how they are really can make a difference. Remember do not be a stranger and take a few seconds from your busy schedule to say hello to someone you have not talked to in a very long time.

Good Luck,

The Future is Uncertain

Love is a messy concept. As a female, emotions can be complicated. There is no such thing as a “perfect” relationship. Every relationship will have high and low points. Good and bad days. Lets face it, women tend to over think. There is this constant mouse that is running the “thinking wheel”. Once the mouse starts, it is difficult to make it stop.

I will 100% admit that even my own relationship is not perfect. I have my good and bad days with my boyfriend. What relationship does not have this balance? I had a chat with a few close friends with something my boyfriend and I discussed over a video chat this evening.

First off, I am still uncertain what my full career path is for this life (and this is what I am constantly thinking of because I want to continue with getting my masters).

But the future is what made my world shake and crumble and made me lose balance. I want to build a family with my boyfriend in the future. I want the kids, the family, the “dream” home, the steady income from work, and a loving husband who rocks my world. However, tonight I learned I have to make compromises, and change is not as easy as 1,2,3. It is more like trying to count in a sequence, but starting over at random points because you second guess yourself.

I have spoken very little of my relationship with my boyfriend. In a nutshell, we have been in a long distance relationship for six years. We made distance work. It was VERY tough the first 3 years because I never been in a committed relationship with someone so far away. However, we kicked the odds and made it work.

We are slowly growing into the next phase of life where job and home is next. However, where the home was going to take root was where the problems begin. Let me add that we are not planning to place money down on a home like in the next 2 years. It is more like 4-6 years from now, maybe more. It just comes down to me finishing school and then the next phase will begin.

The issue is do we live in my home country, or do we live in his. I love where I have lived all my life. I thought this is the place where I would continue to life for the rest of my life and have my own family. I have all my friends and family here, why settle anywhere else? Yet, life is not always the dreams we conjure up. It has come to a conclusion that the future living situation will be stationed in his country. It makes me sad that in the future I have to move a good distance away from friends and family to a place where I have no one but my boyfriend. That is not something easy to swallow down. He did not force anything, but he mentioned that his country is better to grow a family in and take residence. My boyfriend has not exactly chosen the city he wants a house to be built-in, but he might possibly want to move back to his hometown. On the other hand, I prefer the current city he is located in. The city is very similar to my own, and I think I could adapt to the weather quite nicely.

I wanted a little compromise. If I am giving up my hometown, friends, and family, should I not at least get a chance to choose which city in his country to live in? It was a little selfish for me to think “hey if I have to give up my hometown+friends+family, you need to do the same, and this city is perfect because we will not have anyone we really know (even if it is in your country).” That is way too selfish, but I was thrust randomly into thinking about where I want to locate to in the future. I was already worried about my career path. Now I need to add future living location? That is way too much for my plate right now! So excuse me for being a little selfish.

I am just more fond of the city because it is similar to home (which would make the move easier). The weather does not get crappy like his hometown, and I can adjust to another country more easily. I want to give the city he is at right now a chance. A chance for me to find a job and help pay for our house. I can agree that living expenses in the current city my boyfriend lives in is not cheap. Also, housing is not cheap either. But does it not come down to compromises? I believe he should give me a chance to try to find work in the city I want to try to live in. If nothing works, then fine, we can give his hometown a try. Is it okay to let the person you love a chance to adjust to the living situation? The person who already gave up so much because love is important to her, should she not be given a chance to adapt? Adapt to something she is comfortable and similar to what she had before? Meet me half way. Being on vacation in his hometown is NOT the same as living in his hometown forever. When someone is on vacation, they think less of a permanent residence and think more of temporary. A vacation is to be away from home to relax and refresh the mind and soul.

What do you guys think? Is it okay for me to give some input on the city selection- even if houses can be a little on the expensive side? I mean I am already giving up a lot in the future by letting my life go from my hometown and country to be with the guy I want to spend my life with in the future.

I just wanted to share this with you guys. Maybe you are on the same boat as me, maybe not. But love can get messy sometimes.

Where Can I Get That?

What a lovely Saturday! Minus the part where I realized how much I failed in washing the dishes today! Lets just say, I established with mi amor that he is going to deal with the dishes in the future. My dish washing skills might lead to a drought or something… or a semi-flooded kitchen…

Okay I went a little crazy and decided to watch Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) for a second time this week. The fashion/beauty part of my brain was kicking in high gear and wanting answers to some of the things that appeared in the film. Lets get started! (Just a heads up nothing in this post is sponsored, everything I mentioned is from research I did on my own)

  • Item #1: Lipstick USB

It was not hard to guess what brand this lipstick came from since I bought a tube from Sephora last year. The lipstick is from Clinique and they stock a variety of shades using the same lipstick tube design (silver with ridges). The color specifically that was featured in MI was difficult to tell since I did not have remote access to pause the movie. From my assumptions, using clues from when Simon Pegg’s character “Benji” examined the lipstick & the kiss Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson) left on the paper hanging on the door in Casablanca, the shade is part of the Clinique “different lipstick” line in the shades “A Different Grape” or “Tenderheart”. You can take the guess for yourself which shade is the one from the movie since I am not 100% sure.

  • Item#2: Trench Coat
  • Item#3: Shoes

I combined items 2 and 3 together because of the research I did. Let us start with the trench coats the audience sees Ilsa wear in the film. Thanks to stumbling across Fashionista’s post by Fawnia Soo Hoo when I was researching, I was able to find out that at least one of the trench coat Ilsa wears is from Burberry, and the other costumes are made purely for the movie from scratch. There are many alternatives to buying a stylish trench coat, and it does not have to be from Burberry, because lets face it, not everyone is going to fork over $1000+ for a clothing item. I just recently purchased a Top Shop trench coat from Nordstrom’s sale, and I was skeptical at first, but it was a great purchase after I tried it on. I swear online shopping can be scary because you are never sure what size fits you. A 50/50 gamble in luck whether it fits or not. My suggestion is to wait for a sale and shop around, because you never know when a cute affordable trench coat floats your way. On the other hand, we always have shoes to complete outfits. Which brings me to the next item, shoes. Ilsa wears some nice looking shoes in the movie, especially the ones she always takes off before some real ass kicking happens. The first shoes comes from the scene where Ethan wakes up tied to a pole and Ilsa walks into the scene to prepare to interrogate Ethan. Those cute black booties you see her take off are from Gianvito Rossi, they are the “Vamp 100 Suede Ankle Boots“. They come in two textures for black, suede or leather. In my opinion, it looks like Ilsa is/was wearing the suede version of Rossi’s black ankle boots. Sadly I have not been able to find any cheaper alternatives, but leave me a reply if you are able to find a dupe of these cute boots (and I will keep everyone posted if I find any dupes). The next pair of shoes is the pair Ilsa wears with her stunning yellow dress during the opera scene. These cute heels are from Jimmy Choo (thanks again to the Fashionista blog post I stumbled across that captioned what Ilsa’s shoes were underneath the image). For these cute heels I was unable to locate the exact Jimmy Choo she wears from the official website and other department stores that carry Jimmy Choo. However, Jimmy Choo provides similar styles even though the style Ilsa wears is no longer provided. A good alternative check up on is Sam Edelman. You can find similar looking heels that are cheaper than Jimmy Choo. For now, Fall season has not arrive yet, but keep your eyes open for new arrivals on their site, you never know if a similar style heel might appear. I would give you alternatives, but the reason behind me suggesting Sam Edelman is because of the comfort behind their shoes. I have two ankle boots I got from Nordstroms, and they are super comfy! Plus, Black Friday is coming up in a few months and Sam Edelman has great sales on their shoes! The last pair of shoes I want to mention are the red boots Ilsa wears when she arrives back in London to meet with Attlee (Simon McBurney). There are images you can Google of her outfit. The costume she wears is paired with red ankle boots, I may not know the exact brand she is wearing but I have found a couple of alternatives that you can pair to recreate her outfit (Rag & Bone: Avery Bootie) (GX by Gwen Stefani: Clone Pointy Toe Platform Bootie). There are other department stores you can try to find a more exact copy of her boots, but these are just my suggestions to help narrow your search a little more.

Overall, I hope my research helps you out in narrowing your search to finding out what exactly is featured in the movie. Also, I came across this cool blog by The Fine Art Diner, who discusses MI(V) movie in detail of the themes that occur in the movie. A fair warning, do not read the post till after you watch the movie, because it does contain spoilers! I was really intrigued by the post, and since I had a lot of “theme” related courses back in Uni days, it tickled my interests. Do definitely go check it out if you like a good post that gets you thinking deeper about the film.

Much Love & Happy Hunting,

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) (Movie Review)

Oh Netflix… You really know how to mix my curiosity by providing me with movies I never really watched in theaters. So let me get to it.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

This movie was okay. I wanted a little more plot and the introduction of the new characters was a little rough. I enjoyed Transformers (2007) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) because we had a steady character base who continued from one movie to the next. I did not watch the third installment of the film series because they crossed Megan Fox off the list of regulars. You might give me different viewpoints of why we did not need Megan Fox, but for me she was one of the faces to Transformers. The change of pace really knocked my axis off alignment, and I skipped the third movie all together. This movie (Age of Extinction) provided me with lots of fighting scenes, and humor here and there. I am sure you figured out that I love a bit of comic relief in films, but it did not set my interest on fire like other films. I really did like Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci) in this film. I really did label him as fully evil early in the movie and Joyce was in it for self glory for figuring out how to make a transformer (plus he is KSI head personnel + face of the company). I am glad he had some realization of what was going on with his lab creations. Plus, I really like Stanley Tucci as an actor (maybe that is why I gave him brownie points). Overall, this movie is more of something you would watch when nothing else is available (or when you get curious enough like I did). This movie was more of stimulating your senses with fight scenes and a jumpy plot. I hope the next installment is a little better than this one, because “Age of Extinction” really missed the mark. Watch if you feel like it, but it is not a movie to jump up and down for.

My Rating: 6/10

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) – Review

First a big “WOW”.

I was not even expecting to watch Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) today. I was dragged by a sibling to go and watch it. Lo and behold, I enjoyed it! I am a person who loves watching a good action movie. I am a little picky with films, and this film did not disappoint. It felt like a good book that I am sitting down trying to read and can not get enough of. I am not a constant fan of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, but I have watched some of the past films on and off. The back story is Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is trying to prove the existence of the Syndicate (an organization that has highly skilled agents trying to bring a “new order” to the world aka the bad guys). The film leads you through a chase of different locations like Morocco and how Hunt takes down the bad guy. There was some good comic relief scattered through the film, and I found it refreshing. I love a good film with a bit of humor, it gives the audience a chance to regroup and loosen the tensions a bit. I was a little disappointed that IMF Agent William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) was not very present in this film compared the to last one (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)). Maybe the Avengers took more of Renner’s schedule (who knows). But I am happy he was still kicking around in the film. If you want a full run down synopsis with spoilers, you can look on Wiki. I would give this movie a chance if you simply brushed it aside. I would definitely go back and watch it again (proving that it is a movie worth watching). The black BMW S1000RR sport bikes were serious drool envy for me, and those motorcycles are pushing my gear to make me want to take motorcycle lessons possible this year or early next. I blame mi amor for my small obsession with motorcycles. Besides the motorcycles, go and give this Tom Cruise movie a chance, you will not be disappointed. Also, the underwater scene of Hunt holding his breath for 3 minutes was “cray”. Makes me want to go test how long I can hold my breath underwater for…
